Good post, as always, Jasper. If we put artificial in front of anything else, like flowers, color, flavor, or personality, we can see the limitations. Artificial and fake are synonyms. Few things tell the story of how well they work out more than Red Dye #2, or handing your mate plastic flowers on their birthday so you won’t have to buy them again next year. Like artificial flowers, the business world will switch to reliance on artificial intelligence when genuine intelligence is no longer affordable or available. AI can achieve no capabilities that extend beyond the limits of developers. At this point, AI still can’t check the box that says, “I’m Not A Robot”…and not merely because it would be a lie if it could. The root concern isn’t that AI will outstrip human ability. The fear is that corporate humans will try to force fit AI into clients’ critical systems where it is doomed to fail, all for the sake of investor gains. That’s the rough equivalent of sending your children to Michael’s house for a sleep over. With all the AI hype, it’s hard to sort out the issues, if we allow ourselves to become distracted. Thanks for the good inside scoop.
