STATISTICAL SCENARIO OF HAITIAN MIGRATION

If 10,000 Haitians per day entered the U.S., how long would it take for Haiti to be completely depopulated? Assume a constant and sustained migration of 10,000 Haitians daily from Haiti to the United States. How long would it take for Haiti to be completely depopulated? We can use a simple formula:

Time = Total Population / Rate of Migration per Day

Given that Haiti’s population was approximately 11 million (January 2022), and the conjectural migration rate is 10,000 per day:

Time = 11,000,000 / 10,000 = 1,100 days

So, it would take approximately 1,100 days for Haiti to be depopulated if 10,000 Haitians per day were migrating to the United States. Assuming a Gregorian Calendar of 365 days 365.25 days in a year (accounting for leap years), 1,100 days is approximately 3.01 years.

Disclaimer: This is a simplified calculation, and in reality, various factors such as changes in birth rates, mortality rates, and potential changes in migration patterns would affect the actual outcome. Additionally, the assumption of a constant migration rate is unlikely to hold over an extended period due to various economic, social, and political factors.
